About Us

is a 501c3 NonProfit organization headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia USA. PROMETRA USA is the global hub of a collaborative network of traditional healers, farmers, environmentalists and supporters of the natural medicine approach to health and healing.

Established in 2004, PROMETRA USA  was founded to provide technical assistance for the network of national PROMETRA chapters.  Our job was to assist the international office and national chapters with fundraising, infrastructure development, conferences, publications, intellectual property rights, training, and global advocacy. To that end we, PROMETRA USA,  would like to think that we have been somewhat successful.  PROMETRA national chapters have grown from 8 to 27.  We have been successful in raising over 10 million dollars for PROMETRA International and its chapters from major funders such as the Ford Foundation, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Biovision, Coca Cola Africa, The EU, United Nations and others.  We have assisted with multiple publications including a quarterly journal, Medecin Verte.  PROMETRA USA has supported travel of traditional healers and indigenous scientists to over 10 International AIDS conference – Durban, Geneva, Bangkok, Nairobi, Toronto, Lusaka… .  We have Facilitated  meetings, conferences and workshops  on over 4 continents.  One of our most beloved events was Coumba Lamba USA held at the Penn Center (one of our sacred spaces) in South Carolina in 1996. There over 600 persons gathered for a 5 day communal healing ceremony led by our traditional healers from Senegal, Nigeria, Benin and 5 Native American clans.  (30th Anniversary celebration will be held in 2026).
